The legendary Maçakizi Hotel on Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula has enhanced its much-loved hospitality offering with the addition of Villa Maçakizi.

Among the hotel’s most recent developments, including the transformation of its hillside indoor-outdoor breakfast pavilion into a more versatile restaurant and bar area, is the creation of the property’s exclusive-use, 10-room villa, which since its launch just before the pandemic has undergone extensive renovations.

These renovations bring Maçakizi’s distinct identity and affinity for art and contemporary style into the sprawling residence. Set away from the main hotel, the villa is a 10-minute boat ride from Maçakizi’s jetty and ideally positioned on the hillside overlooking Paradise Bay.

For the transformation of this enclave built by the Rome-based architect Fabrizia Frezza, Erozan worked in partnership with the interior designer Barbara Pensoy to instil the hotel’s signature bohemian style into the property.

Interiors inspired by the Mediterranean Riviera incorporate the hand-painted patterned tiles of Italians artisans, linen from fabric specialist Loro Piana and stylish furnishings that have been custom made for the high-ceilinged, light-filled space.

In this covetable coastal residence with 24-hour service, 10 sprawling sea-view suites are joined by an array of amenities including a spa complete with Turkish baths, a fitness centre and expansive indoor-outdoor living areas with terraces leading to an infinity pool. Grounds planted with lavender, freesia and olive trees run down to a private beachfront with cabanas on oceanfront decking and two pontoons are ready to moor arriving yachts.

Making gastronomy a key part of the overall villa experience, chef Carlo Bernardini leads the culinary offering at the villa. Launching this season alongside the property’s new design, the villa’s new farm-to-table culinary concept results in tailored Mediterranean family-style and fine dining feasts highlighting the best of the local produce, freshly caught seafood including the local lobster Böcek and herbs grown in the villa’s gardens.

Meals are accompanied by wines specially selected for Villa Maçakizi, which can be seen in the villa’s well-stocked wine room.

During their stay guests of this newly transformed villa can spend the entire time in their own private sanctuary or venture over to the main hotel where the Bodrum social scene comes alive at night. Yacht excursions take in nearby coastal spots such as Gümüslük and it’s an easy drive to the picturesque old town of Bodrum city.
