Overview

The Castello di Procopio is an elegantly restored castle in the mountains between Umbria and Tuscany. It disposes of all the comforts of a modern villa along with the magnificent heritage of a medieval castle. The private eight-bedroom castle has had a commanding view of the Tiber Valley for hundreds of years. Each suite is luxuriously furnished with a unique interior. In each room, fireplaces, velvet drapes, renaissance tapestries, frescoes, artwork, antique furniture, and stunning views harmonize to create the unique atmosphere.

The original castle itself dates back to the 12th century and was commissioned by the Holy Roman Emperor, Frederico Barbarossa. Built as a fortress, it was at the center of the bloody wars of the time between the Empire and the Papacy. Bought as a ruin by the original owners, it was rebuilt using original drawings and local artisans were employed to fix door grilles, ironwork, and ceiling beams in the traditional style, with local materials and fittings featured throughout.

Today the castle is truly magnificent once more, both true to its heritage and functioning as a modern, unique, and luxurious home.
